The Office of the General Counsel is responsible for oversight of all legal matters at the College. The major functions of this office include providing legal counsel to the Board of Trustees, President, and other College administrators, serving as liaison to the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, reviewing external vendor and agency contracts, accepting service of process of legal documents on the College, and coordinating open public record requests and subpoena responses. The College follows the State of New Jersey's Records Retention and Disposition Schedule for Four Year Colleges. The Office of the General Counsel assists in fulfilling the College’s mission by managing potential legal risk and ensuring sound decision-making and accountability.
In addition, the Office of the General Counsel is responsible for oversight of regulatory compliance and the development of compliance education and training programs at the College.
The General Counsel serves as the College’s Ethics Liaison Officer to the State of New Jersey Ethics Commission.
